In a hectic world, the joy a garden can give is more important than ever before.

Healthy soil with happy plants growing in the right place – form and colour, underpinned with evergreen structure to give you interest even in the depths of winter, all tailored to your individual life-style - these are the essential ingredients of a lovely garden.

Let us share our creativity and craftsmanship with you.

A little bit about Sarah…

A childhood spent riding ponies was probably the springboard for my love of nature, which made becoming a garden designer feel like a natural fit. So, I trained at The English Gardening School in the Chelsea Physic Garden, added some RHS qualifications and in 2001, started my design business.

Plant knowledge, spatial awareness and an ability to resolve a challenge, are vital. Everything from shade, steep slopes, lack of privacy, exposed sites and many other factors can be overcome with a good design, then we just need to build it!

The designer’s other important skill is to listen.  Asking questions and listening to your client is how you identify what’s important to them, and pair their hopes and lifestyle with a beautiful new garden they will love.

So, with this in mind, my landscaper colleague Alan Horley and I have worked closely together for over ten years, designing and building many gardens that have stood the test of time and continue to delight their owners.

Anyone can have a garden they love, regardless of the space with which they have to work. Our end goal is always to make your garden, yours; a space that reflects your personal tastes and suits the time and know-how you have to invest. My commitment is to impart as much of my knowledge and experience as I possibly can, to you. When this brings a new dimension and dynamic into your lives, then I have done my job.

Our Country Gardens

Gardens are not stand-alone features, particularly when in the rolling landscape of west Dorset. Be they in a village or looking out to sea, settling them comfortably and naturally into their surroundings so they become a part of it, creates tranquility and a lovely engagement with the natural world.

Our Town Gardens

Limited space can be challenging, but creating interest that prevents the eye going straight to the edges of the garden will make it look and feel larger. Add some height with suitable trees, or maybe a pergola, and soon the surrounding buildings begin to blur and recede.

Slices of Life…

Inspiration is a funny thing. It can come from anywhere, at any time, and like many things in life, is better when shared.

Here I will (somewhat sporadically!) note down some thoughts and try to share a little about my own garden. From riverside walks, bustling bird baths and spiny nighttime garden visitors, I hope to provide an element of ‘behind the scenes’.
