Mr and Mrs G - Broadmayne

This was a 1960’s garden, much of which sloped very noticeably, defining that area of the garden as difficult to use and enjoy. The planting was sparse and old, but the garden was spacious and south-facing – the potential was immense!

The Brief:

Bring the sloping and neglected 1960’s garden up to date and allow the house to sit more comfortably in its surroundings. In addition, create several level areas for entertaining at different times of the day, including a fire-pit and space for a marquee. Clean lines with a modern style of planting, water feature and beautiful lawns were the focus.

Before We Started…

Having recently added a beautiful extension to the property that overlooked the garden, we wanted to turn the view into one that complimented both the surrounding landscape and the more modern feel of the interior.

As Things Progressed…

The design emulated the surrounding Dorset hills, and a huge amount of soil needed to be moved and sculpted - it was time to bring out the big guns!

So the goldfish were caught and re-homed, all the top soil was scraped off and stock piled and then we began to cut, fill and carve out the new  shape from the underlying chalk.
